New Delhi: Omicron cases in the country have crossed the 1000 mark. Due to this growing outbreak of Omicron, restrictions have been implemented in many states. There is also a fear in the minds of people regarding Omicron, but in the meantime the good news is that there is no need to panic with Omicron!

It is not us but various health experts are saying this. In fact, after analyzing Omicron patients around the world, it has been found that the infection of Omicron spreads rapidly but it is not very dangerous.

Experts made such claims

A report in The Guardian quoted Sir John Bell, Professor in the Department of Medicine of Oxford University and Biology Advisor to the British Government, as saying that ‘Omicron has increased the number of patients admitted to hospitals but this is less than expected. It is dangerous and people are recovering quickly from this infection. Sir John Bell said that the average hospitalization time for Omicron infection is only 3 days. However, experts are advising people to be careful.

Common infection is Omicron!

The Omicron variant of Corona was first detected in South Africa. According to a report by Reuters, African doctors say that the symptoms of the Omicron variant are very mild and the patient can recover even at home. Doctors told that the symptoms of body pain and headache have been seen in Omicron patients in general and these are similar to normal viral infections.

The same thing happened during the Spanish flu

Many experts also say that the Omicron variant could also be the beginning of the end of the corona epidemic! In fact, Outlook India quoted Dr. Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Medical Director, Max Healthcare, as saying that the pattern of mutation of the corona virus seems to be similar to the pattern of Spanish flu. He told that the infection of Spanish flu also weakened in 2 years and then it was over. The second wave of Spanish flu was also more dangerous and the third wave had a very low infection rate and then it disappeared. A similar pattern is being seen in the corona epidemic as well.

Omicron will end Corona!

The doctor said that the way the Omicron variant does not look more dangerous than the Delta variant, it is expected that this could be the beginning of the end of the corona epidemic. In the same report, AIIMS doctor Sanjay Rai explains that this is a natural process, under which any virus keeps on reducing the nature of its infection for its survival. Similar has happened with Spanish flu, swine flu and H1N1 virus as well. It is also worth noting that a large population in our country has been hit by the corona virus and at the same time, about 70% of the population has also got the corona vaccine. In such a situation, both natural and artificial immunity are present in the body of Indians. There is a big reason why the Omicron variant will not prove to be more dangerous in India.

T cells protect

Senior Physician, Jaipur, Dr RS Khedar says that the Omicron variant with multiple mutations is capable of defeating the body’s first line of defense i.e. antibodies, but it is not able to defeat the body’s second line of defense (T-cells). These T-cells are extremely effective in not only identifying the variant but also neutralizing it.

What are T-cells?

T-cells are white blood cells that can attack virus-infected cells or help make antibodies to counter them. Studies estimate that 70-80% of T cells fight against Omicron. Unlike antibodies, T-cells target the entire spike protein of the virus, which remains largely the same in oomicrons with more mutations. A Cape Town University study found that 70-80% of T cells worked against Omicron in patients who were cured of Kovid or were vaccinated.
