The country’s largest power generating company NTPC, which is facing unnecessary criticism regarding the Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) exam, has written a letter to the Railways. The letter urged to change the name of the examination of ‘Non-Technical Popular Categories (NTPC)’ of Railways.

NTPC says that due to RRB-NTPC it is getting bad name unknowingly.

A letter from NTPC (Power Corporation) said, NTPC Ltd. has unknowingly got embroiled in a dispute. The media is using NTPC in short form, which gives an impression that this exam is related to India’s largest power producer. This is hurting our reputation as well.

NTPC said, “Use the full form of Railway Recruitment Scheme in your press releases and statements so as not to spread misconception among the social media users and the public at large. Hence we are urging you to change the name of these examinations so that Let there be no confusion in future.”

Actually, the name NTPC Railway Recruitment Board Exam is being used for the abbreviation of Railway Examination. The name NTPC is used for National Thermal Power Corporation.

The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) started protesting from January 24 due to allegations of discrepancy in the results of Non-Technical Popular Category (NTPC) candidates. Protesting students damaged railway properties in UP-Bihar. Trains were burnt at many places in Bihar. Railway tracks were uprooted. On the charge of instigating the students, the police have registered a case against the owner of many coaching institutes including Khan Sir of Bihar and unknown students.

Since the protest, the Railways has postponed the examination and formed a committee to address the anger of the angry students. This committee will investigate the allegations of irregularities in the results of RRB NTPC examination.
