Omicron spread in 11 states, number of infected crossed 100; the government warned
So far, more than 100 cases of Omicron have been reported from 11 states of the country.
New Delhi: The threat of Omicron, a new variant of corona spreading from South Africa to the whole world, seems to be increasing in India as well. While the government has expedited genome sequencing to trace Omicron’s cases, on the other hand, people are also being appealed to strictly adopt the appropriate COVID practices. In the press conference held on Omicron today, the Health Ministry said that so far more than 100 cases of Omicron have been reported from 11 states in the country.
Omicron has 101 cases in 11 states
The government informed that so far 101 cases of Omicron have been detected in 11 states and union territories. Along with this, the Ministry of Health said that Omicron is spreading rapidly and we need to avoid non-essential travel. Mass gatherings and New Year celebrations should not be done on a large scale. At the same time, districts with more than 5 percent Kovid infection rate need to ensure preventive measures till it falls below five percent for at least two weeks.
Corona infection rate more than 10 percent in 5 districts
According to the data released by the Ministry of Health, the weekly Kovid infection rate in 19 districts is between five and 10 percent. At the same time, in 5 districts it is more than 10 percent. The daily cases of Kovid infection for the last 20 days are less than 10,000. The Health Ministry said that there is a need to be cautious in view of the increasing cases of Omicron in other countries.
Omicron expands faster than Delta variant
Quoting WHO, the Health Ministry feared that the spread of the Omicron variant would be faster than the delta variant, along with community transmission of the infection.
India ahead of many countries in vaccination
Regarding the ongoing vaccination campaign in the country, the Health Ministry said that so far more than 136 crore vaccine doses have been given to the people. India has 11 times more vaccine doses than the UK. The vaccination rate in India is higher than all the countries of the world. There are three lakh vaccination centers in the country. 74 percent of the vaccination centers are in rural areas.
Fast growing omicron
Appealing to the people to be careful, the Ministry of Health said that Omicron is spreading rapidly. It has spread rapidly in Britain, Denmark and Norway. In South Africa, 98 percent of the daily cases of corona are of Omicron variant. The ministry said that everyone should take precautions at their own level. It is important to pay attention to vaccine, mask, social distancing and hand hygiene. It is very important for everyone to get the vaccine. In view of the increasing danger of Omicron, on the question of booster dose, the Ministry of Health said that there is no such study yet that our vaccine is not effective against Omicron.
