Virat Kohli has surprised everyone by leaving the Test captaincy of Team India last week. Virat Kohli’s decision came a day after they lost the series 2-1 against South Africa.

Since the announcement of Kohli, there is a discussion everywhere about who will be the next Test captain of Team India. Team India’s T20 and ODI captain Rohit Sharma is considered to be a strong contender to become the captain of Test as well.

Talking on sports, former India captain and great batsman Sunil Gavaskar told whether Rohit Sharma should be made the captain of the Test team or not.

Gavaskar raised questions about Rohit Sharma’s fitness and said that Rohit’s recurring hamstring injury has raised doubts in his mind whether he should be made the Test captain or not.

Gavaskar said, “It can happen but Rohit’s fitness is a problem. You need a player who can stay fit and available for every match. But Rohit keeps battling hamstring injuries and that’s why in my mind Doubts. That’s why I want someone to be made who is capable of playing in every format.”

Rohit Sharma could not take part in the series against South Africa due to hamstring problem. For the ODI series on the tour, KL Rahul has been given the captaincy in place of 34-year-old Rohit Sharma.

Apart from Rohit Sharma, opener KL Rahul and wicket-keeper batsman Rishabh Pant are considered to be the contenders to become the Test captain.
