Mumbai: After adults, now the vaccination of adolescents is going to start from Monday. The Maharashtra Health Department has made full preparations regarding the vaccination of adolescents. There are a total of 60 lakh beneficiaries in the age group of 15 to 18 in the state.
The officials of the Health Department have said that almost all preparations have been made on their behalf. It will be difficult to say about how the third wave of Corona will affect the minors. Children have also been affected in the third wave in America, so taking no risk, the central government announced to start immunization of adolescents in the age group of 15 to 18 from January 3.
After this announcement, all the states have started their preparations. The Maharashtra Health Department, which is leading the way in vaccination, has also made special preparations. Maharashtra Immunization Officer Dr. Sachin Desai informed that there are 60 lakh beneficiaries of the above age group in the state. Keeping in view the increasing cases of Kovid and the safety of adolescents, we have prepared a separate vaccination center. There will also be a doctor in the center, if any side effect occurs, then training has also been given on how to handle it. Apart from this, posters, banners have also been put up to make people aware at the district level.
650 centers for teenagers
Keeping in view the safety of adolescents, the State Health Department has set up 650 centers separately. The vaccination officer said that if we keep the same vaccination center for adults and children, then there can be crowd. In such a situation, the risk of Kovid infection will remain, so separate arrangements have been made for the teenagers.
There are around 9 lakh beneficiaries in the age group of 15 to 18 in Mumbai. We have selected 9 Jumbo Vaccination Centers for adolescents, in which 5 booths have been made separately. We will vaccinate 4500 beneficiaries daily.
