#ThrowBackThursday – ‘Audi 5000′

The phrase ‘Audi 5000‘ is throwback for sure but as newer artists continue to bring it back to life (like 2 Chainz in Nikki Minaj’s new song), more questions arise as to its origin. Obviously it’s something you say when leaving, such as “I’m out” and a quick Google search will more than likely inform you that it refers to the unintended acceleration the Audi 5000s were infamous for even though it turned out the gas and brake pedals were unusually close together. Regardless, according to the LL Cool J, he is the sole origin for the popular phrase. According to his autobiography, I Make My Own Rules, he claims he bought an Audi 5000 with his earnings in the 80′s, and coined the term “I’m Audi 5000″ to replace “I’m out”. What do you think?
